diy aloe water

"life isn't about finding yourself. life is about creating yourself"

George Bernard Shaw

Maybe last time you made it down to Thailand or some other sunny destination, you have brought aloe as a skin soother to recover from sunburn.

However, aloe is a magical plant with many more benefits than just topical ointment. It is anti-bacterial, anti-viral, anti-inflammatory and a big aid to the immune system

When ingested, aloe has been known to

Recover from fatigue

- Increase hydration levels

- Improve circulation and digestion

- Helps decrease constipation (a natural gentle laxative)

How do you make this at home?

1. Split an aloe leaf in half with a knife lengthwise.

2. Use a spoon to scoop out the clearish jelly inside.

3. Add the jelly and water to a blender (1-2 small spoonfuls of aloe per cup of water tends to be a good ratio

4. Add in a squeeze of lemon

You can also add a scoop of chia seeds (they will gel up like bubble tea after about 20 minutes of sitting in the water. There is no taste but you will enjoy a cool texture or sweeten with a touch of raw honey, stevia or maple syrup (super high in antioxidants).

Aloe is on the more bitter side naturally so I usually do sweeten and add a lemon or lime. For even more flavor you can also blend in fresh mint, which has additional digestive properties.

I blend large batches of the water and keep in a jug in my fridge so it is ready to drink anytime.
